Optional: ALWAYS means the team MAY elect to attend a given event IF proposed by the coach. Attendance is determined by informal input from the team and a majority vote. Optional tournaments are NOT included in base cost.
U18 PLEASE NOTE: all travel qualifiers are optional! We do this to allow flexibility in how a given 18's team wants to build its schedule. Therefore, all travel is listed as OPTIONAL and your base cost is lower than Premier teams at other levels.
Age Level: USAV Age Division (see HOA website for age division parameters).
Team: HOA only recognizes the Club and a Team Number. We have added an "A" to denote an Academy level team so they can be easily identified.
Team Name: Dynasty team name. Name for purposes of internal club designations and National level / larger tournaments.
HOA Division: Premier or Select. Premier teams will be aspiring National Level teams. Select teams (other than 10 Black) are developmental teams that do not travel (Regional Level), and typically have a smaller commitment than Premier teams. Select teams primary goal is player development AND a quality tournament experience.
Level: "National" means they travel and aspire to play Nationals. "Regional" teams stay local and do not attend Nationals. "Regional/National" teams may play a combination of both and may also elect to attend AAU Nationals.
Typical Practices: The usual number of practices per week during the regular season, which may fluctuate at times (due to tournaments, holidays, etc.). Practices may be added on top of this commitment if the coach elects to do so.
Sunday Academy: Is included in base cost. It is ALL skills training for ALL U10-U12 teams that begins in August (during the preseason) and ends in December. Teams may pick up practice time after Academy has concluded.
Monday Academy: Is included in base cost. It is a position specific academy for ALL U13-U17 teams that begins in October for U13s and U14s, and then in November for U15-U17s and runs through early March.
Power League: A Regional Qualifying Tournament. All teams eligible to play Power League will do so. The league is played over 3 or 4 dates, depending on the age group.
MLK: 3 Day tournament played over the MLK weekend in Kansas City. It's a National Qualifier for 18's.
Regionals: 2 Day tournament. A Regional Qualifying Tournament (except for Select level teams). All teams that are eligible to play Regionals will do so.
Show Me: National Qualifier played in Kansas City in April.
Travel Qualifiers: National Qualifiers where travel is required. We encourage coaches to choose driveable locations, however coaches do have discretion in choosing qualifiers and should poll families prior to committing their team to a tournament.
1-Day Local Tournaments: Single day events in the Kansas City area.
Total Tournaments: Total of all tournaments played. Note that Power League is one (large) tournament played over 3-4 dates, teams that do not qualify for the league may pick up an additional 1-2 one day local tournaments to make up for the dropped dates.
Nationals: "Yes" = All teams U12 to U17 (and 11 Black & Blue) will aspire for a bid to USAV Nationals and will accept the highest bid earned. Nationals is optional for U18s. Any team who does not qualify MAY elect to attend AAU Nationals as an alternative. AAU Nationals is an option for most teams IF a coach chooses to put it out there as an option, and the team votes for it. You do not have to qualify to attend AAU Nationals.
Regular Season: Approximate start and finish for the regular season. Note many of our younger teams MAY begin full team practices sooner than indicated, but not later than the month indicated.
Base Cost: These are the club dues per player.
Base Cost DOES include all preseason and regular season team level coaching, practices, Academies, and the indicated tournaments through the last regular season tournament scheduled.
Base Cost DOES NOT include required gear, reimbursement expenses for coaches (if/when a team travels), added "Optional" tournaments, or post season expenses.
U18 ONLY: The only postseason expense (if a team elects to attend) is the cost of the entry fee for Nationals and reimbursements for coaches expenses.
